Baden Storyteller’s Guild

For 24 years, people have come to The Story Barn for Stories Aloud on the First Friday of the month, for workshops and other storytelling and musical concerts. Founder of The Story Barn, and storytelling there,  our host, Mary-Eileen McClear.

This has also been the home of the Baden Storyteller’s Guild,  of which I’m a relatively new member.  I’ve found it a rewarding experience, coming to storytelling from Toastmasters. I’ve always loved hearing a good story, and within this group we help each other hone our stories, learning from more experienced members and using the resources there. Our group has changed and grown in that time, with new members joining us and others leaving. (photo above, 2009)

A new chapter began last week as we opened in a new location, having said our farewells to the Story Barn, with its long history of stories.  The Baden Storytellers hosted its first Stories Aloud in  The Button Factory, 25 Regina Street South, Waterloo, Ontario, on Friday, September 14th.

You get the same story experience on the second Friday of the month from September to June.  Storytelling begins at 8 pm and goes until 10:30 pm. Bring a mug with you for hot apple cider or tea, and $5 for admission, please. Parking across the street by Paul Puncher station and accessible entrance on the south side of the building by the parking building. Bus stop on King Street N., one block west.

Come and join us for an evening of stories. You are welcome just to listen, but if  our story charm should work its magic, you are welcome to  share a tale.
